Scientific and technical support for studies and model measures to improve care for people in need of care, as well as related information measures and the German Care Network
Project Duration: 01.03.2025 - 31.12.2025Field of Work: Innovations in Healthcare and Nursing Care, Ongoing Project

Care in Germany faces major challenges: demographic change is leading to an increasing demand for care, while at the same time there is a growing shortage of skilled workers. Changing family structures are making it more difficult for relatives to provide informal care, and rising costs are placing a strain on both nursing care insurance and those in need of care and their families. Added to this are challenging working conditions in the care sector, which are characterized by high workloads, unattractive working hours, and temporary work.
To meet these challenges, the Federal Ministry of Health (BMG) is promoting studies and model measures to “improve care for people in need of care,” in which innovations with high practical relevance for care are being developed and tested. The iso-Institut supports the Federal Ministry of Health (BMG) in monitoring and further developing these measures by systematically collecting, evaluating, and reflecting on knowledge from practice, politics, and science.
The scientific support comprises the following steps:
· Monitoring und Beratung zur Bildung von Themenschwerpunkten für die Förderung von Maßnahmen
· Development, monitoring, and evaluation of measures
· Reflection on measures, transfer, and dissemination of knowledge about the German nursing network
· Reflection and further development of key topics
In providing support, particular emphasis is placed on a structured and evidence-based process that facilitates the transfer of theory into practice and promotes the successful implementation of new concepts. With its expertise in social and nursing sciences, the iso-Institut supports the BMG in overcoming key challenges in nursing policy and shaping sustainable care for those in need.
