Development, Application and Evaluation of New Health Market-Specific Integration Tools (INGE)

Project Duration: 01.12.2019 - 31.12.2021

The German labour market has long been unable to meet the growing demand for skilled personnel in the health and care sector. Thus, new approaches are to be taken in labour market policy to secure skilled labour. To meet the lack of personnel in hospitals and care facilities and to avoid a shortage of supply, a targeted recruitment of well-qualified and well-trained specialists in health and medical professions from European and non-European countries and a professional training and qualification of people with a refugee background has therefore to be introduced.

The present BMG-funded model project for the development, application and evaluation of new health market-specific integration instruments aims to promote the professional integration of people with a refugee/migration background through professional preparation and through accompanying measures to ensure their entry into the workplace. This model project will be implemented in cooperation with various providers and educational institutions in the Saarland; the overall coordination of the network is being carried out by saarland.innovation&standort e.V. (saaris).

The iso-Institut is working on behalf of saaris on two modules in the INGE model project, which are briefly described below.

Module "Scientific Ccounselling & Implementation Toolbox"

This module focuses on the pre- professional integration measures for people who are to work in the health and care sector in the future. Within this framework, integration instruments such as qualification offers, language courses, competence assessment procedures, preparatory courses, and the recognition of professional qualifications are reviewed, analysed according to practical suitability and effectiveness .

"Operational Integration Management" Module

The task of this sub-project is to develop and to test a modular concept for the professional integration of nursing staff and doctors with a refugee/migration background. The Diakonieklinikum Neunkirchen and the SHG-Kliniken Sonnenberg will be involved as practical partners. The experiences and concepts of all partners will be prepared in form of a guideline and an aid to action for nationwide transfer.
